Final Day Of Coursework

Today Friday 16th Of Decemeber 2011 is the final day of our coursework.Today I have looked through my whole blog.Starting from the very first post I made to the very last detail.Going over, re-reading and checking my checklist I had to ensure I included everything and more of what my teacher within our blog
Looking over my digi pack to see if I can make any improvements,Spelling errors or important information I may have left out.

A2 DANIEL,ELIZABETH,HUMAYRA AND TAMARA MUSIC VIDEO

This is the last and final product of our music video.Using various shots and locations within this music video.The music video is based upon a narrrtive of a break up and the boy reminicising about the times he shared with her.Visting the places he went with the girl.Such as the park bench,walking down the main road and sitting in a cafe.These were the ways that we intergrated this into the music video to fit in with the narrtive theme of a relationship break in the music video.

Evaluation

My media group had chosen to do a group Evaluation. As there was four of us, and one question was allocated to the each of us.

Below of this video explains in detail what will be happening throughout the evaluation and the reasons I have chosen to focused not only on my own allocated questions but also personally answer the other three evaluation questions.I will also include pictures and links to websites to demostarte and to show evidence of what I was talking about throughout my evaluation videos.

Question 1-In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media group member Tamra answered the question two on the media products we used to challenge real forms of media products.Below I have also gone into some detail of how we used ,developed forms of real media products.This video I made was addition,which includes anything she may have left out in the video.

The very first point I am making in this video, is how we used Andrew Goodwins theory within our music videos.

Here is the link of the video I watched to get ideas,as they had the same relationship break up/flashback concept we all wanted in our music video.I have also spoken about this video in my personal video.This 'U Got It Bad' by the RnB artist had numerous visual and lyrics link up,so I personally watched this video in detail.Especially the cuts when going back to the flashbacks within this music video.This being something we used in our video as we felt it fitted in with the concept of our music video.

Another way I conveyed real , develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products was to create a logo.The logo I made,had the beginning intials of our names.This is something that is seen nowdays in all media and advertising products.Such as the font of a company that makes them very distintive.This is something that I was going for when creating the final logo.Through being creative,simplstic and unqiue.

In production of my advertisment I used the logos gf companys.Such as HMV retail company that supply CD's, DVD's and other media equpiment.Alongside with Play.com and Itunes.There logos would be found on well known and recongiseable brands on media products.This being something I tried to do myself and incorprate in my digi pack and advertisement.

Question 2-How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Above I have made a video answering the question in dept and in detail how effective the combinations of my main product and ancillary texts was and how i used this in my music video, DIGI pack,advertisement of my DIGI pack.

Here are some of the pictures of the the ways the ways that I marketed my music video,digi pack through my  digi pack advertisement.The first one was twitter.Having the advertisements of my Digi Pack as my profile picture on twitter.

As my advertised digi pack often wrote tweets to bring about discussion about the music video.Which helps to give feedback about what they thought about the narrative .Also allowing them to see for themselves if they noticed the image used in the music video in the digi pack and advertisement,and some of them did.

Here is the Facebook fan page.I add friends to join my fan page.Also some of the status updates I made talking about the digi pack and the reasons why I chose an eye.This is where I posted the digi pack,advertisement and music video, in order for fana on the Facebook page to see the links and combinations between the three.Leaving them to comment and discuss them.

The overall idea I was going for in order for the music video and anicillary text to link up together was to have the picture of the eye on the digi pack cover and advertisement to be a like.In order for people to see the resemblance between the two.The eyes being the first noticeable thing that is seen when looking at the digi pack,and linking the advertisement with also the music video.
Question 3-What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Here are some examples I was talking about in question three video. I have printed screened some Facebook statuses and discussions some people were having on  Facebook and the opinions they gave about the coursework.

This is a comment made by of our fans that regularly leaves comments on the facebook fan page.Showing her apprication the music video.Also asking questions about why we went for the relationship narrative.I answered her question in quite a lot detail,as she was asking questions.This particular fan liked the music video and felt it was a great.Even though the flashback type of music video is something she would not normally go for,however she liked ours.

Although not all of our fans commented on the video.One of the days I uploaded the music video.Within 29 minutes of uploading the the video on to facebook.We got two thumbs up.Which I have considered as postive feedback that they liked the music video

Question 4 How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Below this question I have made an addition evaluation video of question four.I have included some  in depth details that she failed to mentioned about the various media technoligies that was used throughout the whole coursework.

Throughout the making of our coursework we used various media technologies.Throughout the making of my coursework I personally began very dependent upon it.Used Google,Ibing and amongst others search engines, to find out facts to YouTube and pictures to back up and show evidence of the work we was doing throughout the coursework.

Photoshop is what I used for the the production of my Digi pack and my Digi pack advertisement.I was not very familiar of how to use this software as it was a much more advanced version of photoshop I was familiar with.However after watching some tutorials on YouTube my knowledge became a lot better.

Here is the camera PD70 camera we used throughout the filming our music video.Using this camera we used various different shots,angle also zooming in and out throughout the video to created different shots.

The fourth question I answered regarding the different media technologies we used of conducting my planning,research,creation of the music video.I used used various websites to collect my research facts and show evidence of what I was doing throughout my coursework,and to ensure that I had evidence to show of this in my evaluation I kept a word document of all the links to show all the websites I visted throughout my time of my coursework to show the media technologies I used.

In question four video Humayra speaks about the some equipment used .Throughout the whole time of filming.Although I was the camera person I took picture odf behind the scenes of filming.Showing what each one of us were doing whlist filming.I took this through my Iphone 4,as the camera was of high quality as readily available to all of us.This phone was also used in the music video,when he was texting at the bus stop.As we were aware of the this evaluation.We tried our best to incorporate media technologies into the music video itself.

To film the evaluation videos I used. Imovies. This was software that was already on the college Mac computers. There was a small webcam inserted in the frame of the computer and that were Tamara and I filmed our evaluation question. I also used my Sony lap top to answer question three on the audience research question. This software also allowed me to use different affects such as animations and add slides to the video recording, an added bonus to the ways I used and incorporated media technologies.

I also needed help for this software.So I went back to Youtube to find a tutorial on how to use Imovie on macs,and this is Youtube the link i found.

Updates

Today I started to begin finishing my evaluation we have each chosen a question to do.My question is number two.(How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?)My media teacher had gone through with us in our lesson how to answer the question and things to include in our evaluation.When my teacher was talking about this I personally sat down and write notes about each question.

Today I filmed myself answering my allocated question.Tomorrow I then hope to then go on to answering the other three question and putting a bit more to. Strengths and go into more detail or add more information on my evaluation of  where my group members may have left out.

Weekly Updates

Our group member Daniel (The editor) has  finally finished the editing our music video.

The next plan we are planning to make is our evaluation.However we have chosen to do a group evaluation through filming ourself speaking.There are four evaluation questions and each of us concentrating on one question  each on the evaluation.And share all four questions amongst ourselves.we could also  personally add more ourselves if we would like.whether it be through writing,personally writing up a bit about each question  ourselves,adding pictures or links to websites. 
 

FINAL DESIGN OF DIGI PACK WITH CHANGES

I have made a few changes within my Digi pack to make  it more realistic.The first thing I did was include small print at the back cover of the Digi  pack.

The very  next thing Included was the the Compact Disc Digital Audio Logi on the CD itself.This trade mark on most CD covers and i thought it would be especially good to have this on my own CD Cover

Communicating With My Group Members

Today I was unable to come into college and do coursework.But I ensured I kept on touch with my group members throughout the day.Through texting and emailing to ensure everyone knew what they was doing and make sure everyone in my group was aware  of the personal deadlines we had made as a group.

Final Design Of Company Logo

This is the complete logo that I personally created.Although the logo is simplistic I believe it works well as he visuals of the camera fits in very well with our coursework.The logo having a camera incorporated within it makes it look a lot more like companies logo.Also another way of promoting our Dry your eyes music video




I have also put our twitter account name on the logo card.Along with the original name we went with in the first draft of our companylogo. EDHJ.Which stands for the beginning letter of the group members in my group.

Marketing The Music Video and Digi-Pack

In order to get feedback of my music video and digi-pack.And what better way than to upload and post it on to Twitter.Its fast,easy and quick.I have to upload the furst draft of music video and pictures of my digi pack.


Felt what a great way make a twitter to market the music video.I have posted the first draft of our music video on to twitter.Throughout the day  within the next 2-3 days I will be looking at the diferent the twitter account looking and evaulating the feedback i have got on the music video and digi-pack.

I also thought to create Facebook page as it is one of the easiest ways to contacts and get people of the age group we will be targeting in our music video.I will be uploading picture,video and often make statuses explain what we will be doing and the plan we have coming up.I will also be posting my music video on to this Facebook page.

Research On Camera Persons Roles & Responsibilities

I have taken on the role as the camera person.So I felt it would be wise to familiarise myself with the various shots and angles I will be using when filming my music video. Although I took on this same role at AS level.I knew my work would have to be be of greater standard of what I achieved last year.

I have researched  on search engines.(Goggle,wiki) to look at the roles and responsibilities i will take on as a camera person.

From these search engines I have learnt a cameraperson   is responsible for the  physically operating of the camera and maintaining composition and camera angles throughout a given scene or shot.

When making a narrative, the camera person will collaborate and work beside the director, photography, actors and crew to make technical and creative decisions. The  camera person is part of a film crew consisting of the director.Along with having  a lot of input and contributes to a lot of the decision making along with the director.

Making Of The Digi Pack & Advertisment (Production)

(Wednesday 30th December) I began my DIGI pack.I already had an idea of an eye incorporated with an tear drop on the front cover as this will create a great visual to go with the title of the song we have chosen.

I also wanted the background of the digi pack to be dark.By having greys,blacks and some shading of white.Making the eye on the front cover stand out a lot more

I got the dark background from the mood board I created earlier.When looking at it.Most of the words and pictures within the the mood board connoted powerful emotions.This being one of the reasons I went for the darker colours.

Much throughout the DIGI pack I have tear drops.As this was a great way for me to incorporate the title of the song again into the   DIGI pack.This being something I have alway planned to do right from the beginning when creating sketches for me DIGI pack.

Here was a picture of my friends eye that I took,zoomed it on to the eye,imported onto  photoshop and began editing and making changes.Such as the falling tear drops.

Future Editing Plans & Updates

Last week we have all decided to Split ourself into two groups to edit our music video.One group starting with the beginning if the music video and the second group editing the second section of the music video.We believe this will save  a lot of time, and a great way for us to manage our time management.Also gives us more time focus on our evaluation and design of our individual Digi packs and advertisement of the digi pack.

However there is still one person (Humayra) that will be focusing on editing as that is her role and responsibility within this coursework.But it will make things move  quicker as we will all me contributing to every aspect of our coursework.This will personally help me as it will  ensure every group member aware of what is going on.I will also be aware of what other groups are doing when concentrate on my own task.

This will help me later on when focusing on evaluation enabling me to talk about all responsibilities  I took on within the coursework,how I helped other members within my group.

Updates

Updates 30th November 2011 (ON BLOG) 
 
We filmed today.However myself and another group member  Humayra  thought it would be a good idea to capture and save our footage we have far on to the college Mac computer,as a back up to ensure that if anything happened to to tape we had a back up of our filming.Myself and  Humayra did this however when capturing the footage there was only footage of the first day of filming.We got assistant from other media students and the media teacher  but unfortunately 75% of the footage had gone.Causing us to have to film again starting from the second day.This was a great disappointment.But something that had to be done.Also that I could maintain my good time management.After informing my other group member Dan that day, we all agreed to start from where in the footage got erased.Causing us to have to go back to the locations & film again.

This first thing the three of us did was finish the bits of the filming we needed to do.Then moved on to the flashbacks.However the girl that took part in our music video did not attend our college so we was unable to reach her at very short notice causing us to have to find another female actor.This is what we did.We found another girl we knew very well that is currently Performing acts at our college to take part in our music video.Which was a great advantage for us as the acting would be alot more realistic in our video.

We tried our best to film as much as possible.Trying our best to keep to the shot list.

This week has proven to be the lost changeling week and most stressful.Not only for myself but for my other two group members,making us behind in our schedule.However Dan,Humayra and I  have agreed to put in more extra time in order for us not to fall behind in our editing.Starting with tomorrow( 1st December) we have all agreed to meet up again tomorrow and finish the very last of filming the lyrics,then move onto editing. 

Because of this set back I have has to put my personal targets on a very temporary hold.For one day.Such as the CD Cover  and the advertisement of the CD cover.But continue as normal tomorrow.(2nd December) 

We plan on meeting up at 12pm
tomorrow (1st December)to film our very last section of our music video.Then move on to editing the music video.Myself and Humayra have agreed  to meet up tomorrow and begin editing our music video.

Hopefully the errors that have accrued today will not have that much of an affect on our work.Although we have over come a lot of errors by doing as much as we could to catch up to where we had originally left off from.

Logo

This is the first draft of our company logo.We felt it was important to incorporate a company logo into our work to show the representation of what we are and do.

The style is of a circle/oval shape.This shape is connoting our team work and effort we put into our coursework.The shape also representing unity and commitment to our work.

The letter with the circle is the first intials of all the group members name.

This was a idea that we had all agreed on as it would incorporate  all of us some how into the logo.

However this is the first draft and we will be adding more to the logo.Such as a picture.This is a similar idea we will be going for when the logo design is complete.

Equipment Used

Tripod- We will use the tripod  as a platform to  support the camera weight and maintaining the stability of the camera. The tripod will provide stability against downward forces, horizontal forces and moments we will be making when filming our music video.

Camera-We will be using the camera to capture all of our footage. This is what we will be shooting the music video from. We will be taking various shots from the camera. Also zooming in and out of the frames allowing us to get various shots for the music video.

Additional Light-We will be using extra light when shooting our music during the night. Such as when filming we will use the additional light as extra.

I have made another checklist for myself.That I have to meet by the end of week.This is a personal target for me to complete in order for all my coursework to be summitted on time.This check list consists of me booking the camera for our last scenes of the music video and beginning my digi pack.

I am giving myself atime frame until the end of the week.2nd of November.I will have ticked off all the things i need to do by this time

Weekly updates

This week has been a good week.We had the girl actor of the music video come in to film with us on Wednesday 23rd of November.We have now finished filming the flashbacks of the music video.We are next planning to film on the Wednesday 29th of Novemeber where we would be finishing and adding the final touches to our music video,then move on to editing by mid-week.

I have uploaded the pictures we took on the day of filming.Along with a captions of what everyone is doing in the picture.

I also have person targets of my own that I have written down on my phone that needed to be completed.



One of them being type up my weekly updates.I usually write and note down the things i have achieved during the week and type them up on the computer and post them on to my blog.I next plan on take picture for my CD cover and advert cover.This is what i plan on concerntrating on this week.This will be achieved by the end of the week for myself.

Second Day Of Filming

The second day of filming went very well.I sent a message to my group members the night before reminding them that we would be filming the rest of the music video the next day.Also reminding them of the time,and to try and not be late so we could fit as much filming in as possible.

Here is the txt i sent out to my group members reminding them of the time we was meeting up.I sent this message to all my group members the night before.











One of the first things I did was give everyone in my group including actors a copy of the shot list so they knew exactly what we would be filming on the day.For the actors to familarise themselves with what they would be doing.I marked with a star all the scenes we would be filming on the day.The angles and shots I wanted to get and narratations for what the actors would be doing.This  gave my group members an oppuntunity to give there opinions on anything they may wished to change on the shotlist or thought may improve the quality of our music video

Here was one of the pictures I took at the beginning of filming,When we was getting ready to begin filming.
This was when we was preparing to start the process of filming.Everyone here was discussing the music video and what we wanted to film.

Here is another picture of when we were all discussing the shotlist and what we would be doing during the filming.The girl sitting on bench is discussing in detail with one of group members what  exactly we would be doing and what she would have to.

We was still preparing to film. The girl on the right is moving equitment and belongings of ours off the set so they would not interfer with what we would be filming.Whlist the actor is getting into her role as the girlfriend of the boy in the music video.

This is myself as the camera person.We had now changed the location of where we would be filming and had moved on to the streets where the boy and girl was walking down the road.At that moment we had changed angles and positions of the camera tilting it slightly up.Starting at their feet moving up towards their body.

Overall the day was a great success,we managed to film everything we need to film within the time frame of three hours.Finishing at 7:45 PM.It was also very enjoyable for all of us.We are next planning to filming 28th of November at 4pm.This will be when we are finalising and adding the finishing touches to our music video.

Weekly Updates

My group did the first piece of  filming on Wednesday 16^th  November. The filming went very well as we managed to film the main scenes of our music video, I took pictures of behind the scenes when filming to show the various things we were doing and the places we filmed.

We are next planning to film on the Wednesday 23rd of November.We will be doing the flash backs of the boy and girl together. Where they shared time together in the past. On this day I am hoping to film in 2-3 different areas. A car park, outside on the main road and by the benches.

The First Day Of Filming

We filmed Wednesday 16th of November from 5pm to 8pm.The filming went very successful and to play. I ensured as the camera person I took the shot list and kept to the plans we had already made that day. We managed to film when the boy was sitting down and reminiscing about the old times he shared with his girlfriend and the times they shared together. We first started by with him sitting by the bench. Where we took 3-4 shots of him sitting by on the bench outside then walking away. Then moved onto the main road where he was walking down the street alone.

Earlier on that day I recreated a call sheet to ensure I had everyone contact details if any problem arose that day. However there were no serious problems. Only to odd occasion when we could not get the light above the camera to switch on or slide on the head of the camera. However apart of this mishap, filming ran very smoothly. Also was very enjoyable for my group and myself.

I also took pictures of when we were filming. To show the various areas we filmed. Given an incite of how the scenery was behind the scenes of filming.

We are next planning to film on 22nd of November 2011.At 5pm.We plan on filming the flashbacks in the music video,where the boy and girl will be together.

Risk Assessment

There were a few precautions we have to take when film our music video to ensure we all keep safe. The first one is when walking down the room. As we have various shots of the actors walking along the main road on the pavement. We had to ensure they stayed closer to the right side of the pavement when walking. Also ensuring when doing this it does not interfere when filming

Another risk is when crossing the road with the tripod and camera. To ensure we are kept safe at all times when crossing the road to get shots of actors. We will make ensure that all equipment is packed correctly to ensure.(Camera is put away in bag along with the tripod put away in bag)Carry equipment in bags on our shoulders when walking across the road as this is the safest way to carry the equipment. Once we have crossed the road and reached the other side we will then unpacked all equipment and continue to film. This will ensure that we are safe at all times. Repeating the same method when crossing the road again.

Main scenes are taken on the roadside. On being at the bus stop it is important to ensure that we do not stand or film to close to the road as it would be very especially. Sometimes at the times we have chosen to film at.It will be important to always stand next on the pavement and as far as possible from the main road, away from the cars.

Another risk was when the actors were sitting on the bench. In a few takes we had the actors sitting on the table of the chair rather than the actual sits that are provided. Before filming we will make sure that the bench is well balanced and firmed placed on the floor. This is to ensure that when actors do sit on the edge of the bench they do not fall off. Causing injury to themselves.

The weather could also be a potential hazard as we will be filming during winter. It is more likely to rain, so to ensure there is not injuries or falls amongst the group we will. Make sure to carry all equipment in bags there and back to the scenes that we will be filming in. To put all equipment in the bag and continue to carry at all times to avoid any trips or falls because of not being able to see where we are standing or walking as the tripod or camera is in the way when filming.

One of main things that will be checked for to make sure no sharp objects or items are laying around when filming.Causing any of us to injure ourselves

Call Sheet

Here is the call sheet we used when filming.I ensured I got everyones details.Such as their contact number and the addressess.I ensured every indivdual from my media group signed the call sheet form.

I have included the names,numbers and college address as this is the places we will be filming on the day.Along with the date,and the roles of each indivdual in my group.

Weekly Updates

Wednesday the 16th Of November is the date we plan to film our music video. I have taken the reasonability to book out a camera from our college at 5pm. Today we will focus on one of our actors that is the main actor. The boy. We will be moving around through scenes. The plan is to start from behind the black screen that the boy actor will be standing behind at the beginning of the song.

The move outside where he will be walking down the street. Through the filming I will ensure I will be taken pictures of behind the scenes. To show the planning and how we come to decision on how we will film. This will also show our planning, time management and organisation skills.

Sketch Of Digi-Pack

Here is a rough sketch of my digi-pack. By doing a sketch it will able me to get ideas of how I will implant this into my final digi-pak. I was important for me when thinking of ideas to implant the lyrics of words onto the digi-pack through visuals, as this will help to illustrate various meanings.

The front cover is of an eye. With a big tear drop falling from it. This gives a direct illustration and fits in with the title and lyrics of the song. This is eye-catching and very powerful.

A fur coat similar to this one is what the girl actor will be wearing in our music video,as the parts she will be acting in will be located outside.The fur coat will help to make the narration of our music video more realstic.Which will complement what the boy actor will be wearing the video as he is wearing a coat.

Black skinny Jeans is an item of clothings worn around female teenager actor in our music video.Skinny jeans are regularly worn by the type of people we will be targeting in our music video.These jeans will pull off a causal look we will be conveying throughout the music video.

                                                                       

Dr Marten boots is something that is worn by our target audience during the winter.So it fits in perfectly especially during the time that we will be filming for our music video.


        

Costume For Boy

Boy Actor:

Jeans trousers help to pull of the casual look we are going for with the music video.The type of jeans we are will be using is denim jeans with pockets,as throughout the will be putting his hands in his pocket as this will help to create more the narrative within the music video.Also helping it to be more realstic.

This jacket we will be using will also help us to give off that casual every day look within our music video.

As most of the video will be shot outside.So this also helps for the music video to look more realstic.These type of jackets are also very popular for youths at this current time.Which will also help our filming as we will be using as costumes that are very current within retail outlets,and appeal to our target audience.

Location Ideas

My group have agreed on filming in various locations as we feel we will be able to covey more meaning to our music video narrative. However if we feel other locations will add to the narrative we want to portray to the audience we will add more to location research and planning.

First Location: - College-Sitting behind a black back drop. Singing

Second Location: - The pub. The boy character will be in the pub handing a drink with his friends, where he will not be aware of his surroundings as he will be staring into space as he is thinking about the break up with his girlfriend.                                                                                                                                        As well as sitting down having a drink with his friends

Third Location:-This location will be used when the boy actor is walking slowly alone down a main road.

Fourth Location:- At Havering college.He will be sitting on a bench.We will also use this location for parts of the flashback animation.

This is where the argument will take place in the music video.
